To this day Ross Smith has nightmares about fighting the Japanese soldiers who he describes as a “determined enemy who didn’t surrender because they didn’t care whether they lived or died because to die for their Emperor was considered supreme.”
In a move that proves community is alive and well in the area, the local Hunters Hill Congregational Church (HHCC) has forged an alliance with local aged care provider, Twilight Aged Care (TAC), in a partnership which will enable both groups to enlarge their capacity to care for the local community.
The two organis

Residents from Hunters Hill Village were lucky enough to have recently been invited to a Riverside Girls High School musical performance of the classic, Mary Poppins. One of Twilight’s more colourful residents, Father Kevin Kerley, gave us his review (David Stratton style) of the local school’s production:

Discover a new skill. Taste a new flavour. Laugh till it hurts. Or just relax and refresh. However you choose…find a new you today. This was our mantra for the 84-day cruise around South America that started 11 January 2017. We visited around 14 countries, explored 28 cities and went on a 4-day excursion and land tour to Cusco and Machu Picchu. I now have certificates for the “Crossing the Dateline” (twice); “Crossing the Equator”; “Rounding Cape Horn” (twice, the temperature was minus 10 degrees) and one for transiting the Panama Canal. We celebrated crossing the Equator, Australia Day, St Patrick’s Day, Carnival and Chinese New Year. I took close to 10,000 photos on my iPhone, which I am sure I’ll bore you with when I next visit your facility!
It has been a busy beginning of the year for Glengarry. I’m pleased to report that our Food Lovers program has had great success with a high participation and engagement level as well as positive feedback with residents saying they are looking forward to the next session.
Twilight has some wonderful learning and education programs in the pipeline. The ‘WE ARE TWILIGHT’ series of workshops have been developed and will roll out from the week beginning 24 April 2017. The purpose of the workshops is for all ‘Twilights’ to be working towards a common goal – our vision to be the preferred aged care provider in the community – and for everyone to be clear about the vision and how their contribution supports it.
We are pleased to advise that the proposed Twilight Aged Care Enterprise Agreement 2016-2019 has recently been approved by the Fair Work Commission. The changes mean Twilight is now able to provide its employees with an Enterprise Agreement that is contemporary, reflects current legislation, and is flexible and supportive of staff.
