HR NEWS: Learning and Development

Twilight has some wonderful learning and education programs currently being rolled out. The ‘We Are Twilight’ series of workshops, facilitated by our Workplace Trainer, Geraldine Koh have been well attended and the results are already being noted throughout the homes with employees displaying a renewed sense of purpose and understanding of the four key Twilight values and their meaning. This is a mandatory training program which began in April and is carried out over two phases. Series 2 will begin next financial year and rollout will begin in 2018. Series 2 is about creating a ‘learning’ organisation.

The program has made very pleasing progress so far with employees now very clear about their importance in the organisation; they are more motivated and part of the team. It has also helped to build stronger relationships among staff; they are quick to support each other and have begun to view their colleagues more objectively rather than subjectively.

The accredited Alzheimers’ Australia program ‘Dementia Essentials’ is also continuing at Twilight throughout 2017; this is assisting employees to truly understand the nature of dementia and how to offer person-centred care to residents with dementia.

Call for Staff Nominations for John Laurie Award

Do you know a Twilight staff member who goes above and beyond? Someone who lives and breathes the Twilight values? Nominations are now being sought for the John Laurie Staff Member of the Year Award.

The Award, now in its second year, recognises and celebrates outstanding staff who exemplify the Twilight values of Respect, Compassion, Integrity and Commitment in all they do. The peer nominated award is an incredible honour as staff acknowledge their colleagues, many who go about their work quietly behind the scenes. Nomination forms are available from administration in each home. Please read the Twilight Aged Care, Recognition and Award Policy before completing a nomination form.

All nominated staff will be honoured at an afternoon tea to be held later in the year where the Award Winner will be officially announced.

Reminder: Staff nominations close on 27 October 2017.
