Twilight has been part of an important volunteer program with Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MS) that has greatly benefited residents. Known as the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) and funded by the Australian Government, MS plays a vital role in providing companionship for people living in Aged Care Homes or living in their own homes and receiving care.
MS has been providing volunteers to residents in Twilight homes for almost two years, beginning at Jamieson House and more recently incorporating Hunters Hill Village and Horton House. The volunteers are fully trained and are matched to a resident who they visit once a fortnight.
The scheme has been improving quality of life for residents through these regular visits.
How community visitors are helping Twilight residents:
- Share stories
- Read or listen to a book
- Share a hobby, interest or activity
- Cuppa and chat
- Take a walk, go on an outing or watch TV together
- Take family pet or children to visit residents
Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MS) is one of several community organisations funded to deliver this service.
